Our Mission
Our mission is to create and enhance programs, services, and collaborative relationships that improve healthcare quality.
Our History
For
more than three decades QSource has worked to ensure that people
with Medicare receive the highest quality of care possible. Our
growth and
progress are based on the principles of education and advocacy.
Here are a few of our historic milestones:
1973 — As
the Mid-South Foundation for Medical Care (MSFMC), we were
contracted by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services
(CMS) to serve as the Medicare Professional Standards Review Organization (PSRO) for West Tennessee.
1984 — Commission
of the Peer Review Improvement Act of 1982 dismantles the PSRO
structure and authorized the utilization and quality control
Peer Review Organization (PRO)
program. MSFMC becomes the PRO for Tennessee.
1986 — Contracted
with the State of Tennessee to oversee the state’s Medicaid
program. We held the contract until Dec. 31, 1993, when the
state enacted a managed care program
known as TennCare.
1999 — Contracted
with CMS to serve as the national Disadvantaged Populations
Support PRO. Entity later becomes known as the Underserved
Quality Improvement Organization Support Center (UQIOSC) supporting
53 quality improvement organizations (QIOs) nationally with
the identification of underserved populations and efforts to reduce healthcare
disparities among these populations.
2002 — CMS
changes the mission of its contractors from PRO to a Quality
Improvement Organization (QIO) and launches a national public
reporting initiative involving QIO oversight. MSFMC changes
name to QSource to better reflect the new mission.
2005 — Contracted
by the State of Tennessee to serve as the External Quality
Review Organization (EQRO) for Tennessee. QSource also achieved
certification as an ISO 9001:2001 company.
2008 — QSource
expands its geographic reach and is contracted by the State
of Arkansas to provide therapy review and prior authorization services
for Medicaid recipients under the age of 21.
