Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) Reviews
Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA): EMTALA cases are referred to Qsource by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for assessment. Reviews are conducted to determine if an individual had an emergency medical condition that had not been treated or had not been stabilized before being transferred.
For More information visit CMS web page: http://www.cms.gov/EMTALA/
If a case is a potential “dumping” violation, Qsource provides timely, complete and clinically sound physician opinions for 5-day and 60-day reviews as required by the Social Security Act for cases involving potential Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) violations.
