    National Immunization Awareness Month

    National Immunization Awareness Month (NIAM) is an annual observance held in August to highlight the importance of routine vaccination for people of all ages. Use these resources to help you discuss routine vaccinations with your patients during NIAM and throughout the year.

    • Recommended Adult Immunization Schedule for ages 19 years or older; 2024 U.S.
    • Education Info About Vaccines and Diseases They Prevent

         

    The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) also offers numerous education and training programs for healthcare personnel on a variety of topics:

      • You Call the Shots: Vaccines Web-based Training Course - This interactive, web-based immunization training course consists of a series of modules that discuss vaccine-preventable diseases and explain the latest recommendations for vaccine use.
      • COVID-19 Vaccine Training: What Healthcare Professionals Need to Know - This module will provide healthcare providers with information about COVID-19 vaccine Emergency Use Authorization and safety, approved COVID-19 vaccines, and guidelines around vaccine storage, handling, administration, and reporting.
      • Vaccines Pink Book Webinar Series – Includes education on topics such as Principles of Immunization, General Best Practices Guidelines Parts 1 and 2, Vaccine Safety, Vaccine Storage and Handling, Vaccine Administration, and many more.

    The Indiana Department of Health Immunization website features a variety of programs and resources to promote wellness for adolescents and adults through vaccination.

    • Health: Immunization: Adult Data – This interactive dashboard contains immunization rates for adults age 19 to 100 (as of March 2024) in counties across Indiana.
    • Health: Immunization: MyVaxIndiana - MyVaxIndiana is a user-friendly concept that allows Hoosiers to directly access immunization records from any computer through the use of a personal identification number (PIN).
    • Please contact your health care provider, local (county) health department, or pharmacy to schedule an appointment to receive vaccines. Find a provider who is enrolled in the publicly funded vaccine program in your county.
    • What You Need to Know About Recommended Vaccines for Adults
      • Seasonal Influenza
      • COVID-19
      • Tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis (whooping cough) Tdap
      • Pneumococcal
      • Shingles
      • Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV)
