This session examines how nursing homes can effectively manage Immediate Jeopardy (IJ) situations during and after the federal government shutdown. With CMS limiting survey activities to only “excepted” work, facilities must understand how IJ complaints, enforcement actions, and communication with survey agencies are being handled. Participants will gain clarity on CMS guidance, learn how to maintain compliance and resident safety under restricted oversight, and prepare for post-shutdown enforcement follow-up once appropriations resume.
